Project description:

The German-Tanzanian Development Cooperation set up the "Health Infrastructure Development Project" to improve the health service delivery in Tanga Region and to improve the health infrastructure in Tanga. The project is financed by KfW Development Bank on behalf of the German Federal Government.Prevention of nosocomial infections is one of the urgent tasks of the project. In Tanga Region measures were carried out to improve infection control in the areas sterile supply of instruments and healthcare waste management.

Services provided by ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics:

  • Implementation of an advanced and adapted waste management system for the six district hospitals;
  • Commissioning and start up support for the new installed Central Sterile Supply Departments (CSSD)
  • Training and Workshops of multiplier and hospital staff in healthcare waste management and CSSD management;
  • Follow up Training
    • Review of the actual HCW & CSSD situation in the Hospitals
    • Clearance of open points / difficulties / lessons learned
    • Identification of still existent weak points
    • Calculation of a yearly budget, needed for HCW & CSSD
    • Development of a work plan 2008-2009
  • Improving the recycling system;
  • Support of the hospitals during the implementation phase;
