Project description:

The health program is a cooperation project among the different agencies of GDC (German Development Cooperation), in which all the different instruments support its implementation with combined financial and technical assistance through KfW Entwicklungsbank (FC) and GIZ (German International Cooperation).

Since 02/09 GIZ supports the implementation of the Vietnamese strategies to improve access to premium quality health services for all strata of the population aiming at improving the general health status in a programmatic approach. The overall goal of the Program 'Support to Decentralized Health Systems in Vietnam' is: The poor population in selected provinces of Vietnam has access to quality assured health care through decentralized health services.

The prevention of infectious diseases and (newly) emerging infection diseases is one of the major challenges for the health systems in Vietnam. A functional infection prevention system inside of the hospital as part of a patient safety system is of utmost importance.

The overall objective of this project component will be to increase the quality of health services by improved functions to increase patient safety, to reduce nosocomial infection and to reduce occupational infectious diseases among the healthcare staff. The specific objective will be to increase capacity and know-how in infection control in the field of environmental cleaning & injection safety, disinfection and sterilization, water supply as well as waste water disposal.

Services provided by ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics:

  • Will be responsible for adapting and applying injection safety training system;
  • Will be responsible for developing and applying a training system for environmental cleaning, for water and for sanitation systems of healthcare facility;
  • Will develop a training for disinfection & sterilization (CSSD) as well as for the reprocessing of endoscopes;
  • Provide at least one training for each of the trainings together with the national expert in each of the provinces;
  • Propose and agree on a methodology, work plan and schedule for the missions with the project's chief technical advisor (CTA)/STA;
  • Analyze the available documents from the projects such as: impact chains, operational plan, and annual work plan with special emphasis on Infection Control Aspects;
  • Consult and support the Project team in all aspects regarding injection safety and environmental cleaning.
